The Life of Christ

"And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man."
                                                                (Lk. 2:52.)

The dates for this year’s camp are July 29 to August 2. The hours for the camp are 9:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.

The theme for this year’s camp is “The Life of Christ.” Students will become familiar with the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, through Scripture readings and reflections on the major feast days of the Lord as celebrated in the Byzantine rite. They will also learn how Christ is the perfect embodiment of the Beatitudes and reflect on their own growth in the life of Christ through the Holy Mysteries (Sacraments). The camp will consist of daily group prayer, catechism lessons, art/craft activities, and the chants of the Church.

The camp is for children 8 to 13 years of age. It is open to Catholics of all rites and also to non-Catholics interested in Byzantine Christianity. (Non-Catholic students are welcome to participate in all activities except the reception of the Sacramental Mysteries.) The camp is in compliance with the Safe Environment standards set by the Eparchy of Phoenix. The fee for one student is $90; there are discounts for additional students from the same family. Financial assistance may also be available. Students will bring lunch from home but refreshments and light snacks will be provided by the camp.

The registration period will begin mid-April. If you would like more information or to request an application form, please call Fr. Anthony Hernandez at (408) 871-0919 or e-mail him at pastor.stbasil at gmail.com. If you would like to make a donation to help support this and future camps, please contact Fr. Anthony.
