The Great and Holy Week 2024
Glory to Jesus Christ!
“And it came to pass, when the time was come that He should be received up, Jesus steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem…” (Luke 9:51).
As we approach the Great and Holy Week, we, like Christ, are also called to set both our faces and our hearts towards Jerusalem, i.e., to the great mysteries of our redemption: the passion, death, burial, and resurrection of our divine Lord, Jesus Christ.
We will not only call to mind the great and saving deeds of Christ, but by participating in the holy Mysteries (i.e., the Liturgy, Holy Communion, Confession, Hours of Divine Praise), we will also experience in ourselves the life-creating power of Christ.
Look over the Schedule below for the holy Services of the Great and Holy Week here at St. Basil’s. Make a special effort to take part in as many of the wonderful holy services of that Week and, especially in the main services of Holy Thursday, Holy Friday, Holy Saturday, and, of course, Pascha (Easter).
May the Lord instill in us a longing to receive and experience the great blessings He offers us on these holiest of days.
Glory be to God for all things!
